Christa Couture refers to herself as a “singer, songwriter, storyteller, cyborg”. She’s an award-winning performer and recording artist, a non-fiction writer, and a broadcaster. She is also proudly Indigenous, mixed Cree and Scandinavian, queer, disabled, and a mom. Christa knows profound heartbreak and shares her journey with a depth that draws you in with humanity.
In this beautiful conversation, Christa and I chat about her life and navigating identity through grief. Christa shares how she’s been introduced in the past, how the meaning of her name “singing woman” has been woven into her life, and how her flower leg has so greatly impacted how Christa sees herself and her disability.
We talk about what resilience means to Christa and about support; the importance of it, and how it shows up in your life in such different ways.
