What is an Apple Podcasts Subscription?

An Apple Podcasts Subscription is a special paid podcast feed available for some of our podcasts. This feed grants the paying subscriber special privileges (for example, early access to episodes or ad-free listening). It’s an excellent way to support your favourite show, and get perks while you’re at it!

What’s the difference between “following” a show and “subscribing” to a show in Apple Podcasts?

“Following” a podcast gives you access to the main feed and is absolutely, totally, permanently free. By “Following” a podcast, whenever there’s a new episode, Apple will make sure to notify you about it and collect it in your app for you to listen.

“Subscribing” to a podcast provides you with a special feed that can only be accessed by paying a monthly or yearly subscription fee. This feed will grant you special privileges, such as ad-free listening or bonus episodes, and is a way to directly support your favourite podcasts.

Can I still listen for free?

Absolutely! Our podcasts will always be free and available everywhere. Anything that is subscription-only does not interfere with the stories that you want to hear, and is purely an extra or a perk.
